The concept of a modern family house was dictated by an existing house with a classic roof and a balcony on the second floor. With an extension, we added the larger rooms, gained some terraces and raised the house to another level.
The land is rectangular, longitudinal. In order to avoid monotonous oblong shape, we raised the ground floor and enlarged the living room to a part of the external terrace and added an outdoor terrace to the building. Where the balcony was before, it is now a roof dormer, which is repeated on the other side. So, the bedroom also got its own outdoor space. This gave us a playful and dynamic design of a house, where a different story is created in each individual volume.
A similar game is repeated in the design of the facade or the installation of steel frames in the roof dormer and terraces, which further emphasize the entrance to the building. Clear separation between the new and the old is achieved with the color of the facade or the lighter and darker shades of gray.
The house is spread over three floors: basement, ground floor and first floor. In the basement there is a wine cellar and a small fitness room next to the service areas, the cabinet and the garage. On the ground floor there is a living room that end with an open outdoor terrace facing the greened horticultural arrangement of the land. On the first floor there are sleeping areas.
A house that combines tested elements of traditional construction with the innovation and elegance of modernity was created.
